The City Over Clouds: A Sky-High Tribute to Carlo Scarpa

Global Kingway Law Firm's Office: A Harmonious Blend of Elegance, Wisdom, and Architectural Innovation

The office, located near Liede Bridge, offers a panoramic view of the Pearl River New Town. The design's unique properties stem from the fusion of a towering structure and the solemnity of a law firm. The result is a magical ambiance that is expected to inspire and motivate the firm's employees.

The realization of the design involved the use of various materials, including Natural Blue Stone, White Ceramic Paint, Corrugated Stainless Steel Plate, Smooth Stainless Steel Plate, Blue Smooth Mirror, Slim Lighting System, and Wood. The office spans 1800 square meters, with dimensions of Width 43000 mm x Depth 43000 mm x Height 3000 mm.

The design team, led by Tacco Lee and Tony Mok, aimed to embody the ethos of a law firm - elegance and wisdom - in the design. The office's design reflects the firm's key idea of global vision and local wisdom, making full use of the building's height and the breath-taking view over the bank of Pearl River.

One of the design's key features is the lines cut off by the walls and tread surface, inspired by Scarpa’s forms for artistic modeling. These lines symbolize statute books and the intertwined lines of longitude and latitude, expressing the key idea and vision of Global Kingway Law Firm. The use of color-changing lights adds to the solemnity and vitality of the law firm.

The design project, completed in June 2019, is located on the 23rd Floor, North Tower, Guangbaozhongxin, No.370, Yuejiangxi Road, Haizhu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. The project faced several creative, technical, and research challenges, but the result is a unique office space that stands as a City over the Clouds, conveying beauty and a unique philosophy of calmness, reliability, kindness, and approachability.

The design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, winning the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
